Concurrently, medical, scientific and nutritional researches have contributed to lengthening the active period of "professional" athletes, consequently also increasing the number of people who regularly practice some form of sport. Today, not surprisingly, athletes can continue their activities during their whole life with different levels of engagement and results, as confirmed by the many athletes over eighty who still take part in professional competitions (like swimming, cycling, walking, five-a-side football and tennis, just to quote a few).

As a result of the above, an increasing number of people, often with different and diversified backgrounds and experiences, are starting to view movement as a vital force or as a means to balance the needs of mind and body. Movement offers the opportunity of both keeping fit and regaining a good physical shape.
